Well. It could possibly be

1. The car is still new
2. What petrol are you using?

What ever it is, you can have it checked with the service centre. Let me check what my 100km/h is like, both on speedometer and on GPS. 100km/h on the speedo is actually around 96km/h on GPS.

I had a chance to test just now.

100km/h on the meter is around 2.1- 2.2k RPM. 100km/h on the GPS is around 2.4k RPM. So your meter is nothing wrong.

I did try to check the speedometer on my NHC 2009 using several GPS device to ensure the speedometer is accurate.. From the 2 device both indicate that if you are driving at 120kph on your speedometer your real speed through GPS is actually around 115kph, at first i though maybe the GPS is lagging or something like that but when the second GPS device also indicate that the speedometer is inaccurate then i'm sure the speedometer is inaccurate.. Had my first service last week and already told the SC about the problem on the speedometer thingy they inform me all the sensors are working fine and no problem at all, unfortunately since my SC was in center of KL to test the speed by actually going 100+kph is not possible.. still the inaccuracy exist.. tho got few problem like power window not woking properly with random problems like open half way, open in steps (need to press the down button multiple time to open the window) auto up & down function in random only and lastlty the window open but unable to close it again.. it's cloudy outside and just imagine if you cant close your window.. these are the two problem that concern me..

A lot of cars nowdays are built with speed inaccuracy so that you don't overspeed. In our cases, it helps with the police speedtraps because as you are going at 120km/h, you are actually doing around 114-115km/h. My previous Satria GTi had no inaccuracy. What you see is what you get as well as Conti cars.

There is nothing wrong with the speedometer, its just built that way.
